However, planning a beachfront vacation to Lighthouse Inn is a great way to take a break and unwind. Enjoy a mini-vacation before you arrive by driving from Boston to Cape Cod and exploring stops along the way.

Places to Stop on Your Massachusetts Road Trip

Depending on traffic, it takes less than two hours to travel from Boston to our Cape Cod resort. That means you have plenty of time to stop and explore along the way. There are plenty of entertaining attractions to visit, so we recommend giving yourself plenty of time to and from our Dennis hotel.

  • Before leaving town, stop by a Boston coffee shop to ensure you’re properly fueled. Places like Lily’s Coffee & Cafe and Gracenote Coffee have a wide assortment of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks along with snack and meal options to enjoy there or along your drive.
  • Make a detour on your way out of town to explore the Adams National Historical Park. Found in Quincy, the park includes 11 historic structures that encompass five generations of the Adams family.
  • As you drive through Plymouth, make a stop at Pilgrim Memorial State Park to see Plymouth Rock. The boulder is believed to be the Pilgrims’ stepping stone into the New World, although there’s no historical evidence to confirm that.
  • Stretch your legs for a bit at Shawme-Crowell State Forest, located in Sandwich. Found on the western end of Cape Cod, this natural attraction has more than 15 miles of trail to hike.
  • As you get closer to our resort, take a break to explore Yarmouth. This nearby town is home to iconic landmarks, charming shops, and delicious dining options.

Before you hit the road, there are a few things you need to take care of first. One is to make sure you have a properly stocked car emergency kit, including chargers, a first-aid kit, jumper cables, and more. You’ll also want to have your favorite playlist downloaded so you have great tunes to accompany your trip.
